London and Surrey full-service law firm Mackrell Turner Garrett are teaming up with a national networking company to launch a new lunch club connecting property, construction and finance professionals in the City.

Launching on 14 May at the Daawat restaurant on the Strand, the West End Curry Club will give professionals the opportunity to share business opportunities in a relaxed environment whilst enjoying exceptional Indian cuisine.

Organised by Networking in the City, the first Curry Club was established in Manchester 36 years ago. Following the takeover of the company by Steve Kettle in 2009, the idea has spread across the country.

There are now regular meetings in many UK cities, including London, Liverpool and Sheffield.

Steve explained: “The Curry Club has enjoyed great success and helped build business relationships in cities nationwide, so we’re delighted to bring it to the West End.

“It’s been successful because people can enjoy themselves, make invaluable contacts and at the same time make some friends – business comes more naturally over a good lunch!”

Speaking at the first of club’s regular lunch time meetings will be Andrew Rawlings, Senior Portfolio Manager of Land Securities, the largest commercial property company in the UK.

Andrew will talk about suburban London retail property.

Andrew has worked on a variety of assets at Land Securities including central London retail, Metro and secondary assets such as Corby and Worcester which have since been sold.

He joined the firm in 2005 when Land Securities bought Tops Estate where Andrew had led the asset management portfolio.

Nigel Rowley, managing partner at Mackrell Turner Garrett who will sponsor the club, said: “The West End Curry Club will provide a valuable opportunity to foster connections in the property, finance and construction sectors in the West End of London.

“It will give those working in these industry the platform to meet like-minded professionals, share business ideas and make new contacts.”
