A client looking to dissolve their civil partnership faced challenges when their partner did not want to acknowledge the service of dissolution documents.

Despite their partner being the party initiating the discussion of separation with our client they chose not to respond to the requests for dissolution of their civil partnership.

We attempted all methods of service but had no luck and even made an application to the court requesting permission to proceed to the next stage which was denied by the court as the other party needed to acknowledge receipt of the original petition.

At this point, the court suggested surveillance! A whole year went by and the client who was in his 80’s was considering the options of surveillance when the partner finally got in touch and agreed to file his acknowledgement of service.

The civil dissolution process swiftly proceeded thereafter, much to the delight of our client.
