Hannah Sampson

Consultant Solicitor

Criminal Defence Team

About

Hannah has specialised in Criminal Defence since the outset of her career, which has spanned two decades spent at several of the Country’s leading firms – giving her experience and skills in this area that would be hard to match.

She undertakes all criminal defence work, from homicide and drugs to fraud and white collar crime. Hannah has worked with clients from all walks of life and across multi-jurisdictions.

During her time in practice, she has defended clients facing charges from the CPS, SFO, NCA and DWP. Her work also includes courts martial.

Hannah regularly appears before the Magistrates and Crown Court herself and also, where necessary instructs Counsel to assist on larger scale cases that require a defence team. Her years of experience give her access to a huge network of experts across the industry.

Hannah has extensive experience advising high-net-worth individuals pre-charge and is often sought out for her work in this area. She prides herself on a high success rate ensuring, where at all possible, criminal investigations don’t become court proceedings.

She also advises regularly on appeals, including historical cases. She is acutely aware of the impact that a simple investigation can have on an individual’s reputation and those around them and so works hard to bring a holistic approach to clients and their cases –reputation management is always at the forefront.

Hannah came on board with Mackrell Solicitors in January 2021, having previously been a partner at prominent Defence practice in the heart of London. Hannah has been recognised as a leading individual in Chambers and Partners since 2015 – What they say about her:

Hannah Sampson handles a wide range of general crime cases, including the most serious charges such as multi-handed murder, indecent images and child sexual abuse.

“She is switched on and clients really trust her.”

“Hannah is fantastic on complex cases, and so friendly and approachable with clients.”

Outside of her day-to-day work, Hannah is proud to be a committee member of the Fraud Lawyers Association, which works tirelessly providing educational events and networking opportunities to the cream of the fraud law field, as well as responding to Government consultations on relevant legislation.
