Philip is a Consultant Barrister in the Litigation department of Mackrell.

Called to the bar in November 1990, Philip has spent 22 years in practice at the independent bar, of which the last 18 have been at the Chambers of A Ritchie QC, 9 Gough Square.

Philip brings to Mackrell.Solicitors a broad practice in civil dispute resolution which covers commercial/contract disputes, injunctive relief, employment, civil fraud, insolvency, property and landlord & tenant, contentious probate, administration actions, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act, professional negligence, clinical negligence and personal injury (including foreign accidents and industrial disease).

Philip has a great deal of experience in alternative dispute resolution, particularly in mediation.

During his career clients have included individuals (including groups of individuals), public-sector organisations and large companies in the private sector including William Pears Group, Pearl & Coutts and Thames Water.

A member of the Professional Negligence Bar Association and Employment Law Bar Association, Philip is the joint author of “Remedies in Employment Law” – Law Society (2014), while he is the author of a chapter on group actions in “Clinical Negligence Claims, A Practical Guide” – 9 Gough Square (2011).

He has a good standard of written and spoken French and has basic German.
